Two Brothers Arrested For Kidnapping 74 Year Old Father

Two brothers have been arrested in Anambra State for allegedly kidnapping their father. The two brothers, Ifeanyi and Obinna, aged 44 and 33 respectively, were arrested by the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), led by Supol James Nwafor, after they were implicated in the alleged abduction of their father, Chief Mike Onwukamuche.

The two sons were said to have demanded for N5 million ransom from their father. According to investigation, the 74-year-old victim was abducted in Ojota and taken to Obosi and was allegedly held hostage for one week by the suspects. Both Ifeanyi, who was the victim’s heir and his younger brother, Obinna, according to investigation decided to kidnap their father because he did not give them money to support the upkeep of their families when they requested.

The former England captain, a free agent since leaving LA Galaxy in December, yesterday joined the Ligue 1 leaders on a five-month contract and would be donating his salary in full to a charity home in the area where PSG is located.

Beckham considered offers from around the world but has opted for a club in the knockout stages of the Champions League, backed by wealthy Qatari owners and led by Carlo Ancelotti, who was manager at Milan during his first loan spell there.

Addressing the press at his official unveiling, Beckham said: "I'm excited. it's something we've been talking about for quite a while and it's finally happened. "I'm very lucky. Gunmen Attack Birnin Gwari Town In Kaduna State, Bomb Police Station And Banks

ECO Bank, Unity Bank, and First Bank branches in the town as well as other public buildings, including a police station were attacked and bombed midnight . The heavily armed men arrived in unmarked vehicles and set the police station on fire after a two-hour long gun battle with the police.

Sources who witnessed the attack said the bandits planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) that exploded  simultaneously in addition to sporadic gun shots.

Sources said the whole area was sealed by the unidentified gunmen whose number could not be ascertained because they came in the dark.  Several police officers and  some of the  bandits are believed to have died in the attack  which  lasted about two hours.

In October, 2012, bandits invaded the town killing some 20 worshippers leaving a  Mosque in an early morning raid in the area.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested twenty suspected internet fraudsters. The arrest which was carried out  in a joint operation with officers of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin, followed intelligence report on their activities. They were nabbed in a surprise raid on their Cyber office tucked in an old building located on Siluko Road, Benin City.

At the point of arrest, the fraudsters had in their possession forty five (45) laptops of different make, twenty eight (28) telephone sets, eight (8) internet mobile modems and one Nissan car with registration number USL 375 AG.

France Returns Stolen Nok statuettes To Nigeria.

The French Government yesterday returned five stolen Nok statuettes to the Nigerian Government.

The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Jacques Champagne Labriolle, who presented the statuettes to the Minister of Culture and Tourism Edem Duke in Abuja, said the return was aimed at fighting the illegal import of cultural goods into France.

He said the statuettes were seized in Paris in August 2010 by the Gennevilliers Office of the General Directorate of Customs and Excise as part of the French Customs’ watch and fight against the illegal transportation of cultural goods.

“They were found in the personal luggage of a traveller coming back from Africa. It was established that these art works had been illegally taken away from the Nigerian territory, “he said.

Duke said the five Nok figures, which were illegally exported from Nigeria, were seized by the French Customs service and repatriated to Nigeria through the French Embassy.

Pile of ancient human skulls unearthed in Mexico

Archaeologists have unearthed a trove of skulls in Mexico that may have once belonged to human sacrifice victims. The skulls, which date between A.D. 600 and 850, may also shatter existing notions about the ancient culture of the area.

The find, described in the January issue of the journal Latin American Antiquity, was located in an otherwise empty field that once held a vast lake, but was miles from the nearest major city of the day, said study co-author Christopher Morehart, an archaeologist at Georgia State University.

"It's absolutely remarkable to think about this little nothing on the landscape having potentially evidence of the largest mass human sacrifice in ancient Meso-America," Morehart said.

Morehart and his colleagues were using satellite imagery to map ancient canals, irrigation channels and lakes that used to surround the kingdom of Teotihuacan (home to the Pyramid of the Sun), about 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Mexico City. The vast ancient kingdom flourished from around A.D 200 to 650, though who built it remains a mystery.

PHOTO: Criminals Selling Fake Currency Notes Arrested In Lagos

Five men were on Monday paraded by the Lagos State Police Command for printing local and foreign currencies. Two of the suspects, Femi Jacob and Ramon Adeoye, were arrested at Ogunlana Street, Alagbado with eight printing machines and a large quantity of printed fake notes in Naira, Dollars, Pounds, Euros and Cedis totalling N8m.

Isaka Usman and Akeem Ayobado were also arrested at Ikorodu with 14 printing machines, one cutting machine and N100m fake notes. The fifth suspect, Onyeka Ibe, was allegedly an Anambra-based buyer, who usually comes to Lagos to buy fake currencies.

A  mum has been caught on camera restraining her screaming toddler son as he is given a TATTOO. The clip shows the terrified lad, believed to be three, trying to escape as he writhes in agony. Shockingly, his mum pins him to her chest during the procedure, understood to have taken place in Havana, Cuba.

At one point, she is heard saying "mire, mire" - Spanish for "look"  as her distraught child continues to scream and cry.

Boko Haram Announces They've Agreed To A Ceasefire

THE Boko Haram Islamic sect which has been terrorizing some states in the North, particularly Borno, has on Monday agreed to a ceasefire or lay down their arms for peace to prevail. The agreement was reached after a group suspected to be members of the sect claimed to have held a closed door meeting with the Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, other top government officials and religious leaders from the state.

Briefing journalists after their marathon meeting, the acclaimed commander-in-charge of North and Central Borno, Sheikh Abu Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn Idris, said

 ''after due consultation with the leader of the sect, Shiekh Abubakar Shekau, as well as intervention and pleading from respected individuals and groups in the state, they have all come to terms and agreed to lay down their arms, but insisted that, government should immediately release all their members from custody unconditionally, rebuild their places of worship, and compensate them, among other demands.''

North Korean parents 'eating their own children' after being driven mad by hunger

A starving man in North Korea has been executed after murdering his two children for food, reports from inside the secretive state claim.  A 'hidden famine' in the farming provinces of North and South Hwanghae is believed to have killed up to 10,000 people and there are fears that incidents of cannibalism have risen.

The grim story is just one to emerge as residents battle starvation after a drought hit farms and shortages were compounded by party officials confiscating food. Undercover reporters from Asia Press told the Sunday Times that one man dug up his grandchild's corpse and ate it. Another, boiled his own child for food.

The crash which involved 68 persons, occurred around 02:30hrs in the night. The 2 vehicles were completely burnt and Victims were taken to hospitals in Abaji and Gwagwalada.

Gunmen kill eight in northeastern Nigeria attack

Gunmen killed eight people in a town in remote northeastern Nigeria over the weekend, witnesses said, in an area plagued by an Islamist insurgency and armed banditry.

A spokesman for joint military and police forces in Borno state, the epicenter of a campaign of violence by Islamist sect Boko Haram, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, confirmed the attack on Gajigana town but did not have any further details.

23rd January, 2013, a magistrate court in Abeokuta sentenced one Adesina Mustapha to 2 years imprisonment for stealing VEGETABLE LEAVES (ugwu) worth N5000 without any option of fine.

28th January, 2013, a court in Abuja sentenced former police pension boss to 2 years imprisonment for embezzling N23.3 Billion with option of N250,000 fine. 

An Abuja High Court became the punch line to a tasteless joke today when it sentenced John Yakubu Yusufu, standing trial on charges of stealing N32.8billion in the Police Pension scam, to two years on each of three charges, and then offered him a go-home option of a fine of N250,000 ($1,500).

Wisely, Mr. Yusufu accepted the judge’s kind offer, parted with N750,000 ($4,500), and walked into freedom with the rest of his loot.

‘I was not speeding when my car fell into the ocean - rescued driver

Olusola Oladimeji, the driver of the Toyota Sienna that fell off the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon on Saturday, has described his escape as a miracle. The father of three said contrary to reports by traffic and emergency officials, he was not on high speed when the incident occurred.

Oladimeji, who is a minister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, said he was on his way home from work.

NYSC Member Donates Healthcare Facility Worth 3.9million Naira To Community In FCT

Okeke Kanayo, a medical doctor presently serving in Kwali Area Council of the FCT. The doctor against all odds, built a healthcare center valued at N3.9 million in Fula community of the council.

Speaking at the commissioning, Kanayo said the health center, which has five rooms including a consulting room, waiting room, nurses’ station, dispensary room, emergency and recovery room, would bring some respite to people of the community who often had to travel long distances to access medical care.

Commissioning the project, chairman of The council, Mr. Joseph Shazin Kwali, assured all present of the protection and sustainability of the project.

Feaces is a topic we should all know something about since we all pass feaces on a regular basis. Feaces, also referred to as poop as well as many other less appropriate names, is the medical term used to describe the motions and discharge of the rectum. Educating yourself about your feaces and your bowel movements can provide much insight into your overall health. Signs of infection, digestive problems and even early signs of cancer can be detected by paying attention to bowel movements.

The average human excretes 150 grams of feaces a day, which adds up to 5 tons of poop annually. The feaces is comprised of 75% water and the rest is an often stinky combination of fibrous materials, dead and live bacteria and mucus. We poop due to digestion, which takes 24 to 72 hours in the average human. Food passes from the esophagus to the stomach after we consume it. It then travels through the small intestine, the large intestine, and finally escapes out the anus.

A coffin with built-in speakers linked to a music playlist that can be updated by the living has been designed in Sweden. The hi-fi coffin designer, Fredrik Hjelmquist told reporters that the coffin is engineered as an entertainment medium for the dead and provide solace for grieving friends and relatives by making it possible for them to alter the deceased’s playlist online.

He planned to be buried in such a coffin and would choose opera for his long sleep. He has not sold any of his coffins, but there have been many enquiries, he said. The coffin goes for 199 000 Swedish crowns ($30 700). “We’ve had an unbelievable amount of inquiries, not so much in Sweden, but many from the United States and Canada, also from Taiwan,” he said. Somebody ought to do it because this is really rock n’ roll I think...but at the same time beautiful,” he added.

May D's Lover Gives Birth To Baby Boy

Two days after Peter Okoye and baby mama Lola Omotayo welcomed their second child together, a baby girl Aliona, former label mate Akinmayokun ‘May D’ Awodumila and his own baby mama Debola (remember the girl who got a tattoo for him?) have welcomed their first child – a baby boy!

The singer announced the good news via micro-blogging Twitter ‘I just had a sure baby boi’. Sources tell us the baby was born in a Lagos hospital.

May D and Debola have been dating for about three to fours years although the relationship has been an on-off thing.
